Matthew 10:38
Summer Potpourri Stephen in Jerusalem

Summer Potpourri Faith That Saves
We can study God's Word, we can attend church every Sunday, and we can go home and lead the life that we've always led and think that that is faith.

When I Am Weak
(30:40 min.)
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
old self / new self No Other Options
This isn't pride, this is complete and total humility before the Lord, knowing that He has your back. Whatever happens is according to His will and not your own. When we reach My grace is sufficient for you there are no other options!

Scripture reading: Romans 5:1-5

That I Would Boast
(29:32 min.)
Galatians 6:12-15
old self / new self Focus of Faith
This is something that I hear more often than I like, it goes to the effect of, "I don't need to go to church to believe in God." Our faith is in community. This is a very dangerous statement because it's just another form of walking away from God.

What Was Right
(30:27 min.)
Judges 17:6
old self / new self Wisdom
There were all kinds of warnings in advance. This would be like when Balaam's donkey sat down on the job and told him what an a.. he was. He argued with her thereby validating her point.

In Conformity With His Glory
(26:18 min.)
Philippians 3:15-21
old self / new self An Act of Free Will
We see the old self / new self idea as an intentional act of will in which we continually choose to get close to God and Jesus Christ by putting our old sinful self back behind us.

Scripture reading: Philippians 3:7-11

Do Not Lose Heart
(31:01 min.)
2 Corinthians 4:16
old self / new self Faith is Binary
If you're worried enough about your salvation to proclaim Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you're saved. No where in the Bible does it say that you have to be good enough for God before you can be saved.

---------------
Scripture reading: Sharon L -- Colossians 3:1-11
2013/05/26
May 26th, 2013
Fear and Trembling
(26:47 min.)
Philippians 2:12-13
old self / new self Faith is Active
You're saved, now do something about it. And how we see this play out in the Bible is that your heart knowledge, that deep knowledge that you have of God, of Jesus Christ, impels you to get busy and walk according to God's will.

---------------
Scripture reading: Damon L -- Ephesians 6:5-9
2013/05/19
May 19th, 2013
Died to Sin
(26:30 min.)
Romans 6:1-7
old self / new self Get Your Priorities Right
Salvation is like being the end kid in crack-the-whip. You're just along for the ride, all the energy comes from somewhere else. And the idea is to hold on as tightly as you can.

Has Christ Been Divided?
(28:18 min.)
1 Corinthians 1:13
Signs of the Times Divisiveness in the Church

You Wove Me
(28:43 min.)
Psalm 139:13
Signs of the Times Integrity
If we are honest and faithful in our love for Jesus Christ, then we should try to bring our Christian faith into all parts of our lives.

Gave Them Over
(34:16 min.)
Romans 1:24
Signs of the Times The Zaccheus Effect on LGBT
My concern is that, when we use the end-of-the-world doom and gloom stuff too much then we stop being effective Christians. The point of all this is that the church, we who are individuals, and we together as a body of believers, the church has to figure out how to deal with this tidal wave of sin.

Scripture reading: Carol J -- Ephesians 4:17-24

Be Obedient
(27:53 min.)
Titus 3:1-10
Signs of the Times Subject to Authority
Paul says in v.3, "... spending our life in malice and envy." Spending our life! This is the kind of "money" that we can't afford to spend! Because once you've spent it it's gone forever. When we revel in division, when we strive after jealousy, when we lift up hatred, all in the name of politics, then we have traveled down the wrong path as Christians.

John 11:25-26

God is Glorified!
Our faith is based upon reality, not upon metaphor. God is glorified when we look at something and realize that only God could make it happen, and we give Him the credit for it, no one else. We have to understand that there is a "wow factor" in much of what Jesus did. And it's a huge sign that God will do what He says He will do. God is always glorified on His own terms.

Luke 24:1-12
Easter
07:30 a.m.
Jesus Triumphs Over Death!
You understand, don't you, that there really was no necessity to remove the stone for Jesus to get out? The stone was a sign that people would believe. The empty tomb was a sign to push the skeptic amongst us in the right direction.

Scripture reading: Jim L -- 1 Corinthians 1:17-21

Betrayal
(27:50 min.)
John 13:21-32
Lent/Easter Iscariot
Okay, let's cut to the chase. When we walk away from God it doesn't matter our reasoning. It doesn't matter that we may be right (at least in our own minds). It doesn't matter that our childhood, or our bad marriage, or our terrible job, or a fight with someone at church made us walk away. When we walk away from God we open up an avenue for Satan to enter in and take over.

God Will Supply All Your Needs
(23:19 min.)
Philippians 4:10-20
Missions God's Blessings for Missions
Typically we think about God the other way 'round, we go to God with our problems, when we even think about God we tend to think that it is God who will supply all our needs, and that is all there is to the relationship.

Faith With Works
(28:09 min.)
James 2:14-17
Missions Set Our House in Order
And so the first thing in any missionary endeavor that we have to think about is; how good are we at paying attention to the basic tenets, the basic teachings of our faith?

The Father Will Send
(26:51 min.)
John 14:26
Spirit Filled Purposes of God's Holy Spirit
We see that God provides His Holy Spirit as a Helper. And this sets the pattern for the rest of the New Testament. He abides in you. He immerses you. He pours over you. The Biblical metaphors are varied.

Holy Spirit Fell Upon Them
(26:12 min.)
Acts 10:44
Spirit Filled The Truth of Our Faith
We have choices at times like these. We can either praise God and glorify Him for finally beginning to answer our prayers, or we can pull a long face and put on a poor me because He has put us through yet another trial.

We Are One Body
(27:52 min.)
Romans 12:5
Spirit Filled He Gifts the Called
In past years we have been taught what the Holy Spirit is all about and so now we have a vested interest in keeping Him there. If we were taught that the sign gifts have ceased then we have a vested interest in making sure they really have ceased. The converse is true, too.

Not You Who Speak
(27:31 min.)
Mark 13:11
Spirit Filled With the Spirit's Help
God did not call us to be safe, He called us to be saved! And part of being saved is proclaiming the gospel message when it needs to be proclaimed!

Tongues as of Fire
(30:47 min.)
Acts 2
Spirit Filled Legitimate Sign Gifts
I would pray that we receive tongues as of fire. Think about it. Suppose we were immersed in tongues as of fire right now? My first action would be to rush out into the street, stop traffic, and start preaching. We could expect the police. Maybe the SWAT team. Certainly the six o'clock news. And the video would go viral on YouTube.

Scripture reading: Ed T -- Acts 6:1-6

January 13th, 2013
Spirit Filled
(29:32 min.)
Luke 24:49
Spirit Filled Misunderstanding God
When it comes to God's Holy Spirit, we do tend to ignore Him, and to leave Him off in the back of the sanctuary somewhere. Mostly because we don't know Him very well. This would be your basic misunderstanding.

Promise of the Spirit
(30:49 min.)
Galatians 3:14
New Year Prosperity Gospel is False!
There is a persistent thread of thought going through North America today. And it is that God wants us to be comfortable. This is a dangerous doctrine!
