We have prepped for VBS, teachers have their assignments, wranglers have their animals, cooks their food.  All we need is for the kids to start arriving!

Our schedule for "guest animals" includes.
  • Day 1 - small furry animals
  • Day 2 - bugs and crawly things
  • Day 3 - feathered creatures
  • Day 4 - reptiles
  • Day 5 - big mammals
We still have room for more guest critters, if you happen to have one that you want to show off, please contact Mark using the link below.

Guitar Classes
Classes began Tuesday, July 15th.  They run for six consecutive Tuesdays.  We have eight students, from a variety of ages, that are eager to learn to play guitar.

     Why is this important?

In any outreach we attempt to establish relationships with those around us.  Very often, we Christians are not "allowed" to speak on topics of faith unless we have some sort of permission to do so.  And just as often, that permission stems from the knowledge that our witness is fair and "safe".  Let's face it, people are wary of being sucked in and somehow harmed by people of faith.  The reasons for this are numerous and deeply culturally based.

Please pray for this important outreach as we witness Jesus' love and compassion to this group of students.

No Time Left
This sermon series explores the reasons why we, as individual Christians, must bring the gospel good news out into the world at large.  The thesis of the series is that for some people they literally have No Time Left to make a decision for Jesus Christ.  This puts a special emphasis upon each of us to not only talk the talk, but to walk the walk.

Route 66 - Through the Bible in a Year
We studied Psalms on Monday evening.  There are a 150 psalms written by a variety of different authors.  Psalms is certainly not the longest book in the Bible for number of words, but it does have the most chapters.  The book of Psalms emphasizes worship of God in all of life's circumstances (whether with our joy or through our oppression).

The book of Psalms forms a part of the third type of Hebrew writings in the Tanakh
  • Torah - Law
  • Nebi'im - Prophets
  • Khetubim - Writings
If you are interested in joining us for this Bible survey class, we meet every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel basement.

Diorama
Sometimes we get glimpses into the lives of others that stimulate, shock or amuse.  I took last week-end off from the rigors of preaching to attend my niece's wedding down at Lake Tahoe.

On the return trip, as I was winding my way over Santiam Pass in Oregon, I noticed a car parked on the opposite side of the highway.  There I glimpsed a father and three sons outside the car.  The father stood with his hands on his hips yelling at the boys.  The boys?  They were on the ground busily doing push-ups.
