Mother's Day
Mother's Day is coming up in two Sundays. Have you planned to do something for that special mom in your family?
Why don't you bring the family to our annual Mother's Day Gala Dessert Celebration? If the weather is warm then we will host it on the veranda of the mansion, if not then we will move into the mansion instead.

Route 66 - Through the Bible in a Year
We studied Deuteronomy this past Monday. Did you know that Deuteronomy was written like many of the vassal treaties of that day and age? A vassal treaty consisted of an agreement between a king and his subjects. The king would provide protection (and peace) for the subjects, the subjects would provide taxes and young fighting men in return. As you read through Deuteronomy look for conditions like these.
One story in Moses' last book has half of Israel standing on Mount Gerizim, half of them standing on Mount Ebal, shouting blessings and curses back and forth. That must have been an awesome sight!
If you think that you might like to get involved, the classes are every Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  We work in twelve week "pods" and then take one week off.  Come on out and give it a try!

Vacation Bible School Noah's Ark!
Vacation Bible School begins on Monday, July 28th and runs for five days.  This is a wonderful opportunity to work on a "short term mission" field and help out with the VBS.  If you are interested in teaching or otherwise helping out, please contact pastor Mark.  Also, contact the church office, or pastor Mark, to enroll your children in this year's VBS.

Just the Black Notes
Paige Stoffel, one of our VBS kids' moms, sent this along. There is a lot of history and culture behind our Amazing Grace namesake that we can learn and understand. Here are two links, I believe the GodTube link has the better quality.

Expelled -- No Intelligence Allowed
Ben Stein's new movie, "Expelled", is a hard hitting movie that looks at why the world, and the popular media, have turned their backs on those who would propose intelligent design as an alternative to evolution. The movie has received less than rave reviews by the media, they would like it to go away. Most internet movie guides carry little or no information on their pages. If there were not some theaters that were showing it I suspect that they would not even list the movie. Even so, when we attended the movie at a local theater the projectionist played dirty tricks with the sound in what seemed to be an effort to annoy the audience. But the movie was so compelling that no one left.
"Expelled" documents what has happened to those scientists, in a free society, that dare to proclaim an Intelligent Design theory which opposes Darwinism.

Prayer Request
Please pray for Bill Stochosky and his family. Bill has advanced cancer and has been given a short time to live. We all know that God calls us home when He is ready, not when we are. Even so, Bill is at peace with his Lord and Savior.
Save That Date
Back in February I sent out an email noting that my "Senior Sermon" would be coming up soon, the first part of May as a matter of fact. I asked you to save that date if you wanted to attend.
Since then I received word that a close friend of mine, for forty years, is dying of cancer. Bill asked me several years ago to "do his funeral" when the time came. Well, the time is coming and I have had to make some tough decisions. One of those decisions is that I cannot pay attention to meeting the needs of my friend and his family and give full attention, the way I should, to a speaking engagement like this.
As a result I have advised the faculty at NBS that I will not be speaking this year. I know that some of you have been planning to attend, so please accept my apologies.
